The Tribe has started the Picture ID Card project. If you want a Tribal card with your picture on it then you must
attend the meetings to find out when and where it will be made. This card will be good for three years and expire on
your birthday. Everyone that appears on the old roll with a number can get a card. The Tribe is honoring all names
that are on the roll that was available after the loss of tribal rolls and genealogy files. The tribe must have a genealogy
of your family to certify you as being Indian. Only those tribal members that were certified for State Recognition and the
ones that have became tribal members since March of 2006 are certified by genealogy to be Indian. The ones that appear on
the roll with a number and no tribal file with their Genealogy are not certified as Indian. The new tribal administration
has voted to allow those that do have genealogy on file ninty days ( From September 9, 2008 until December 10, 2008 ) to come
and get a new ID Card which will identify them as being a member of the tribe. The card will expire in three years and if
the member has not attended the require tribal meetings and provided their Indian Genealogy the card will not be
renewed when it expires.
The ID card will cost $5.00 which will go to cover the making of the card. If you have an old card signed before
January 27, 2006, it is no good. You must have a new card made. You need a card, it can be used for identification,
and you can also get discounts in some places. Tribal ID Cards will now be issued to all Kids from age 6 to 18, the child
must be listed on the Tribal Members file and have a roll #. This is Optional, child will have a roll # even if they do not receive
a Card. Cost of the Card will remain 5.00 with a 10.00 fee to replace a losted card. A Tribal file folder will be made for
the child under 18, which will become their Tribal Membership file at age of 18.
Getting your child an ID Card is a good idea, because with a Tribal Card from the State Recognized Pee Dee
Indian Tribe of SC to show that they are Indian, will help the school systems and prevent them from not listing your child
as Indian. With a Tribal Card upon entering the first grade of school will ensure that they will be carried as Indian thru
the 12th grade. If you are member of the Pee Dee indian Tribe of SC, please come to the office on main street in McColl, SC
and get the ID Card for your child. The sponsor of the child must have and ID Card themselves before one is issued to the
child. The Tribal Officers are available to help you.
