RECENT EVENTS
Annual American Indian Festival and Pow Wow
Was held on April 4th & 5th, 2009 at the CW Love Sports
Complex located on Oak Hill Road at McColl, SC. The event was a 100% success. There were over 500 visitors for both days,
this does not include the kids under age six, or the Seniors over 70 which was free.
A special thanks is due for all those workers who really made the Pow
Wow a success. Without their help things would not came together.
Chief Caulder extends a big "Thank you" to all of the VIP's That came
to support our Pow Wow. There was two very Special VIP's in attendance at the Pow Wow, "Dr. CW Love & the Lovely Mrs.
Love"
We must start now preparing for next year's event. We have some experience
under our belts now, so next year will be a breeze ( we wish).
Thanks to each person that came to the Pow Wow. I saw a lot faces
that was not Indian, and this was great, because we want to share our culture with the non-Indian people.

Trip To NC
About two years ago a trip was made to Canton, NC to bring back lumber, nails shingles that
was donated by Council member Mr. Bernie Chavis. This material has been put to good use by being used to build a 16'x 24'
Storage building. We thank Bernie for the donation and also a big thank you to the ones that helped load and unload the Material.
Emergency Food & Assistance Program
The tribe no longer has any funds from the Emergency Food & Shelter ( EFSP) We now operate
from the tribes own Emergency Aid & Assistance Program. We cannot run a weekly or monthly feeding program because we do
not have the funds to do so. What we can do is provide assistance on once or twice basis to help a family that really is in
need of help.
This emergency aid program has no funding except what you donate to it.
Must people never really think that they may need assistance a some future time; therefore they see no reason to make any
donations to an emergency aid fund. I want you to just stop and think what we could do if you and others would step up and
donate just $ 100.00 per month to the program. We could then have a regular assistance aid fund to make house and rent payments,
food boxes, pay for perscription drugs, the sky would be the limit. I have asked many times for help from tribal members,
but only a very few have given anything. I wish I could feel positive about the program, but without funds it will close.
We have given the name of "Helping Lodge" to the program. Tribe wants to help those that need help, but without your
individual donations we cannot help.
Education
The tribe can still apply for Educational Assistance from the Federal Government, but cannot
do so with the help and pledge of parents to get their Students to the Class site. If there are any parents interested, then
please contact the Chief.
Thousands of Federal Dollars are being lost that could be coming to the tribe every school
year to help provide tutoring, Indian Cultural Education and much more.
Picture ID Cards
Tribal member Jim Chavis has been working hard to get everyone that wanted one
a Tribal ID card with their picture on it. If you have a old card signed before January 27, 2006 it is no good,
you must have a new card made. The picture ID cost $5.00 and This covers the cost of making the cards. These cards
are good for three years. They can also be used in some places to get a discount.
Unity Pow-Wow
Thank you to all Tribal Members who participated in the Unity Pow-Wow in Columbia, SC.
We had a great turn out this year and hope next year will be even bigger.
